Meet David Mortensen

My name is David Mortensen and I am the owner and operator of Discovery Inspection Services, LLC. I have lived in Alaska since 1976 and in Anchorage since 1983. I have worked in many facets of the home construction industry for over 30 years. I have two sons who call Anchorage home, having gone to elementary through high school here.

My State of Alaska registration number is 40, and I am licensed and bonded as per the State of Alaska requirements. I am an active member of the local ASHI organization and travel out of state each year for ongoing education. I have completed Thermography training and ITC certification and use the latest in thermal imaging technology, the FLIR B400 digital infrared camera. I am also new home certified.

Preston has 10 years experience as a property manager (my own rentals) and 14 years as an inspector for oil and gas. I love the great outdoors of Alaska, especially hunting and fishing to fill my freezer yearly. When I'm not working, I spend time with my family.

Earl Mortensen, Inspector Residential

I grew up on a farm and ranch, where I learned from an early age to be a jack of all trades and how to work with my hands. That background taught me the value of hard work, attention to detail, and taking pride in doing a job right.
I served for over four years in the Marine Corps, where a strong sense of discipline, responsibility, and commitment was reinforced. After leaving the Marines, I spent three years bartending before beginning my career in the plumbing industry.
I have 14 years of plumbing experience, working in service plumbing, remodels, commercial and industrial settings, as well as residential construction. I hold state and municipality journeyman license cards. This experience has given me a broad understanding of how homes and their systems are built, how they function, and what to look for when something isn't right.
My wife, Ashlee, and I have called Alaska home since 2020. When I'm not working, I enjoy cooking and baking, hunting, golf, archery, and mountain biking.
